A nice base for Gold Country exploring, easy town to get around with good shopping and lovely historic street and buildings. I actually liked GV better than Nevada City, though the latter had more historic buildings. Very good food on offer all over. Was surprised that many restaurants, one brewery and some sights were closed not just on Monday (the norm) but also on Tuesday and at least one on Wednesday. Good walking town, not too big. Friendly people.

Grass Valley( & nearby Nevada City)are charming small towns filled with wonderful history & excellent restaurants & shopping. Empire Mine State Park & South Yuba River State Park are a must to visit! The Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum is another “gem” not to be missed! ( great for all ages)

Grass Valley is a sweet little town with fun shops and decent restaurants. It is a nice day trip or a good place to stay on the way to Reno or Tahoe. It is not far from Nevada City which is essentially the same as Grass Valley but a bit larger. The community is really nice and the area is very pretty. There is a mining museum in the area which can give you a good idea of how the area developed.

Going in April means most of the activities or attractions in the area are not open during week...just the weekends; parking is a major problem downtown after about 4 pm. Grocery and restaurant prices are high, but that is not unique to Grass Valley

I loved Grass Valley and felt I only saw a small part of it.

I loved Grass Valley and felt I only saw a small part of it. Town is quaint, quiet and safe feeling. Many places to eat and shop and many outdoor activities. The town is low key and comfortable. There is some non-covid compliance, but those establishments were in the minority and easy to avoid. The pasty shop is wonderful and all the restaurants we tried were excellent. Many wine tasting establishments and many breweries to choose from.

first room they gave me smelled of cigarette smoke. i requested another room, the front desk was very kind. Second room was better but still had a smell. the water pressure in the shower made loud noises when showering. The bed was comfortable and there was a microwave in the room. easy access to the freeway.

Front entrance was nice, staff was nice. Room was GROSS. DIRTY, OLD, made up but not maintained. Curtains to slider falling off as clip was broken, toilet ran all night and tub was dirty and who wants to shower or bathe with someone else's hair in tub and on bathroom floor. Not me. GROSS. My hair is red and on no place on my body is dark hair, clearly not my shed. Have pics to show if interested. Thought better of the Best Western brand. This was NOT a great choice in the area. Room in the 600 section.

The room was updated, the perfect mix between updated and classic historical. Absolutely gorgeous. The kitchen area surpassed expectations. At one point I had forgotten the code to our room, and the owner was super patient and kind. We can’t wait to go back! It’s a super short distance to downtown Grass Valley, and the updated shops and gluten free bakery were a big plus! Great location.

The tranquility was exceptional! Chad, my host, went above and beyond and his brother, Jay, was equally delightful. I grew up in Grass Valley, CA, so much of my family was in the area as my sister, Tawni , is planning on listing her house. This wonderful slice of paradise was only 5 miles away from her, making it very convenient.

It was a beautiful old house converted to a hotel. So unlike a conventional hotel. Rooms were large with many windows. Large retro refrigerator with ceramic dishes and cups. Complimentary bottled water and snacks. Claw foot tub. It was unique. Very clean. We were so impressed! Comfortable king bed. Would recommend to everyone!

The size of the room was spacious and nicely decorated as if it was someone's home rather than a hotel room. Spacious bathroom and living areas. I extended my stay by one night and the staff was very helpful.

The room was clean and recently renovated. The hotel is a 5-minute walk from the historical centre. A small park with chairs and tables in the shade of a large tree was the perfect place for breakfast.

Super clean! All what I need I found there. I liked very much” yellow brick road”-straight road from a hotel room to downtown, either shops, cafe, restaurants and so on. Highly recommended!
